Switching to WordPress

Posted by admin on January 6th, 2009

Once again it has been a long time since my last post. I am thinking of switching to a new blog like wordpress, so I can integrate this thing into my main website page. Anyhow, I am here for a reason. I have started my exploration of Python scripting in Maya and came up with a little tool that may be of use to someone out there. Basically you can use this tool to scale multiple objects by a factor of your choosing. Check it out and let me know what you think. Hopefully there will be more tools to come. I was always reluctant to dive to deep into Mel as it is only useful in one program. Python can do everything that Mel does and so much more. Best of all you can use it for more than just writing Maya tools.

Behold my 3 seconds of fame. Golden Axe is done and I am moving on from Secret Level. I had a great time making this game and will miss the great team I had the pleasure of working with. Check out this behind the scenes video. If you don’t blink, you will see that I appear twice.

Golden Axe is going to grace the cover of the November issue of Play magazine! Find out all the details about this awesome game inside the magazine with five fun filled pages. I can not say how pleased I am to have this project on which I have spent so many hours, appearing on the cover of Play.

In other news ( this is the important stuff) I am having a daughter in February. I am sure she will be even more talented, good looking and intelligent than her parents.

I just wanted to pop in to let everyone know that things are going well here at Secret Level. As you may know, we are working on the XBOX360 and PS3 version of the arcade classic Golden Axe. I can’t say much more about it but be sure to swing by www.secretlevel.com to keep up on the latest news.

Again it has been a long time since I posted here which of course makes for a rather uninteresting blog. Here is some of the things that happened in my life these past few months. As you know I have been working for the very talented Eddie Paul at EP Industries here in LA. I had a chance to be a part of a lot of interesting projects including the creation of some mechanical turtles which you should be able to see during the next shark week, and a working version of Kannada’s bike from the animated film AKIRA. We also got to make a replica 1918 Indian motorcycle for the upcoming movie “Leather Heads”.
I recently had a the privilege of riding on the Goodyear Blimp. I would see it up in the sky when I lived in Ohio, but never imagined I would get to ride on it. What a truly awsome experience that was. Thanks Eddie for the invite.
Last but not least, I am leaving Los Angeles and EP Industries to pursue an opportunity in San Francisco. I will be serving as a technical artist at a great gaming company known as Secret Level. I start on June 4th and am currently buzzing around trying to get relocated. I am sorry to leave EP and all the good times, however I think this move is going to lead to some really great things.
